On our way to CHLA!
Sammy is still pretty apprehensive about walking--more psychological than anything else I think since he was getting around okay with the casts. His surgeon said it may take up to a week for him to feel like walking, and not to pressure him. He can resume almost all normal activity, except no jumping and no contact sports, like soccer.
His little legs are sooooo skinny now. So sad. And I won't go into too much detail on how gross his feet were after being in casts for 10 weeks. There were so many layers of dead skin that I had to soak and scrub them several times with an old toothbrush to exfoliate all the layers. Yuck.
So things are looking good and we are so happy to have this all behind us. It was a long summer, but hopefully we can get in some swimming and other fun stuff before school starts.

yea for Sammy! (and for mom).
CONGRATS!
Love that picture of Helene. And cute pic of Sam and Hannah!
That is SO awesome. Yaaaaaay no more boots!!! What a relief!
Sammy must have a lot of patience. So how do you enforce rules like "no jumping"? He's a kid! But I guess if he's apprehensive about walking it shouldn't be too hard to keep him from jumping at this point. Yes, a pool sounds really nice right now. Let him have his summer.
Yea! His little leg did look pretty skinny, but SO straight! I bet he'll be running around in no time. And that pic of Helene ... what a doll face!
Congratulations Sammy! You made it through these last 10 weeks! Good thinking, Doris, about the headphones and music. And Helene - that picture is adorable! Now onto to some fun summer activities!
What a brave boy! It's great that when he grows he has this record of everything. I'm sure he will appreciate it even more, knowing how much you and Sam have done for him! I LOVE the picture of Helene--she has some killer eyes and lashes, look out boys!
Oh YAY!!!!
Wow! I'm not sure how a kid breaks both legs, but, if anything, it's impressive! poor little guy, but he must love the freedom of no boots!
Glad you found my blog and some entertainment for a night!

That is so exciting! I have hard the kids go through a hard time after they get a cast off like that. Pretty cool that they are off though. Your other kids are adorable as always!
