Thanksgiving was fun. My brother and SIL built a new house with a huge kitchen, so they hosted it this year. Their kids are the same age as ours (the boys are 7 weeks apart and the girls are 1 week), so it was nice to not have to entertain (or even really watch) the kids. The kids had a great time hanging out at Grandma and Grandpa's house in the morning and then over to Mark and Mariann's in the afternoon.
Sam, of course, had to work. I felt bad leaving him all alone…they do feed the employees a Thanksgiving dinner at his work, and he said that was all he needed. I still felt bad leaving him, but since he had to work the night shift Thursday too we wouldn't even be able to hang out together anyway if I was to stay.
Dinner was yummy and we all had our fill. We picked family names for our Christmas gift exchange and then headed back to my parents' house to sleep. We spent the night and got up semi-early to do a little Black Friday shopping. While I am an avid bargain hunter, I REFUSE to get up at 4am to go shopping. Sleep is a rare and precious thing in our house and I won't get up early unless it is absolutely needed.
We hit a great sale at Michael's and then to Gymboree for a few things (30% off EVERYTHING, plus I had a coupon for an additional 20% off...I just couldn't pass it up!). We had a yummy lunch at In-n-Out and then we braved Ontario Mills for a few items that I wanted and then we headed home. The kids were glad to be on the way home and missed Daddy, but we had a fun time visiting the family!
