Harry Potter

Well, I finished the new, and final, Harry Potter book this afternoon. I was so engrossed in this one--I absolutely couldn't put it down. I bought it yesterday at Target ($17.99!) and read a few chapters before I had to tend to motherly duties--you know, dinner, changing diapers, baths and bedtime. I stayed up until a little after 11:00pm, which isn't all that late for me, but since I had been up since 5:30am because my kids went to bed so early, I needed to get some shut eye.

As soon as we got home from church, I put Hannah to bed (she fell asleep in the car on the way home) and put the TV on for Sammy (yes, I was a bad mom today) and sat on the couch to read. I really wanted to try and make this book last since it would all be over when I was done, but I just had to keep reading--this one kept me on edge. I don't want to give anything away, so let me just say that I think she did a fabulous job of wrapping everything up and providing a comforting conclusion.

I am a little sad knowing that there won't be another Harry Potter book, but I can't wait until my kids are old enough to appreciate these and discover the magic for themselves. J.K. Rowling is such a gifted writer--I wonder if she could have fathomed how successful the series would be. And I wonder what she thinks of it all. What a great imagination.

Let me know what you guys thought (it doesn't have to be here)--I want to chat with others about it!

It's so fun to be into a book. I stayed up till 1:30am last night reading a book too(not Harry). And it was great! I'm tired today. But I haven't been "into" a book for a while...So I liked that "on-edge" feeling.
Sorry you don't have any more Potter books. I'm sure something else magnificent will come along to transfix the world.
